Anglophone Teachers Strike - American Embassy warns their citizens to stay away from the North and South West Regions of Cameroon


The ever Protective and Caring American Embassy in Cameroon has put up a notice, informing its citizens of the ongoing strike actions in the North and South Wests Regions of Cameroon,  advising them to star off the war zones .

Security Message for U.S. Citizens: Demonstrations in Northwest and Southwest Regions Nov 21 – 23

The U.S. Embassy informs U.S. citizens that strikes and demonstrations are planned for November 21, 2016, in the Northwest and Southwest regions of Cameroon, particularly in the cities of Buea, Bamenda and Limbe. The U.S. Embassy has deferred all non-essential travel for U.S. Embassy personnel to these regions from November 21 to 23.

U.S. citizens are advised to adjust travel plans accordingly. Even demonstrations intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and escalate into violence. Avoid areas where demonstrations are taking place and exercise caution when in the vicinity of any large gatherings, protests, or demonstrations.
