Mogao Grottoes have a unique position in China’s Buddhism and history. The ups and downs of the sutras have changed for many times before they have today’s appearance. From the Eastern Jin Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty. Song and Ming Dynasties were slowly forgotten by the world, and were rediscovered by accident at the end of the Qing Dynasty.
Mogao Grottoes, also known as thousand Buddha Caves, have a large number of murals in the grottoes, including Buddha statues as high as nine floors, and Bodhisattva statues as large as ten centimeters, with a large number and different forms. The murals or statues in each cave have their own stories. Listening to the commentators’ explanations, we can’t help but marvel at the craftsmanship of ancient craftsmen.
Zhangye Danxia National Geopark
The whole scenic area mainly includes two parts: Binggou Danxia and Qicai Danxia. It is composed of red gravels, sandstones and mudstones. It is the only compound area of Danxia landform and colorful hills in China with unique and magnificent shape.

Mingsha mountain Yueya spring
Climbing Mingsha mountain, you can overlook Yueya spring, enjoy the sunset on the top of the mountain, and feel the desolation and vastness of the northwest desert. Sitting on the sand mountain and waiting for the dark, the sunset gradually dyed the whole sky red, overlooking the clear spring, feeling the shock and charm brought by nature.
Yueya spring has been lying quietly in the arms of Mingsha mountain for tens of millions of years. Although it is often attacked by strong wind and yellow sand, it is still rippling, clear and transparent, and gurgling with laughter.
Yueya spring, known as Shajing in ancient times, has been one of the Eight Sights of Dunhuang since the Han Dynasty. Yueya spring is nearly 100 meters long from south to North and 25 meters wide from east to west. The spring is deep in the East and shallow in the west, and the deepest part is about 5 meters. It is curved like a crescent moon, and the spring is green like emerald inlaid on the sand dunes like gold. Spring is in quicksand, drought is not dry, wind blows sand not to fall.
Yadan National Geopark
The park is dominated by a large area of unique Yadan landform, which is fantastic and spectacular above the Gobi. Every evening, when the sun sets in the west, it is a wonderful place for photography. After nightfall, the sharp wind makes a terrible roar, just like tens of thousands of wild animals roaring, which is creepy, so it is called “devil city”.
One of the six temples of Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, the most famous Tibetan secret Academy in the world, has the most complete teaching system of Tibetan Buddhism in China. The temple has a large scale. There are magnificent temple buildings here, which are dedicated to countless huge Buddha statues and various exquisite sculptures, murals, instruments, etc. The extra long transit corridor of Labrang temple is rare in the world. There are more than 2000 transit tubes in total. It takes at least one hour to transit every transit tube. There is an old wooden bridge in the southwest corner of Labrang temple.
