Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant Tourism

Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant is located on the bank of Daya Bay in the east of Shenzhen, facing Daya Bay. It is backed by Pa Ya Mountain and covers an area of 2 square kilometers. The mountains and rivers here are beautiful and the scenery is pleasant. It is about 45 kilometers from Shenzhen in a straight line and about 50 kilometers from Hong Kong. Guangdong Nuclear Power Joint Venture Co., Ltd. was established in 1985. It is a joint investment of Guangdong Nuclear Power Investment Co ., Ltd. and Hong Kong Nuclear Power Investment Co., Ltd., responsible for the construction and operation of Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station.

The Daya Bay Nuclear Power Plant is China s first large-scale commercial nuclear power plant with foreign capital, equipment, and technology. The nuclear power plant has two pressurized water reactor reactor units with a single capacity of 984 MWe.

The project officially started on August 7, 1987, and the two units were put into commercial operation on February 1, 1994 and May 6, 1994. Guangdong Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station generates more than 10 billion kWh of electricity each year, of which 70% is supplied to Hong Kong and 30% is supplied to the Guangdong Power Grid. Through nuclear power generation, Guangdong and Hong Kong reduce annual coal consumption by 3.7 million tons, which greatly reduces the annual emissions of gases that cause greenhouse effect and acid rain, including 9 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 170,000 tons of sulfur dioxide emissions, and nitric oxide. 30,000 tons, and thousands of tons of dust in the air.

The power station is currently the largest nuclear power station in China, and has won the 1994 Power Plant Award published by the International Power Magazine published in the United States. It has become one of the five award-winning power stations in the world and the only nuclear power station in China to receive this award. In May 1995, the Daya Bay nuclear power plant was identified by the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China as the Shenzhen patriotism education base, and became one of the attractions in Shenzhen.
