Dalian Natural History Museum is located in the north of Shengli Bridge, Dalian. It is the earliest natural science museum in Northeast China. The black right whale is 17.1 meters long and weighs 66.7 tons. It is currently the largest black right whale in Asia. The fin whale is 18.4 meters long and weighs 34.7 tons. It is currently the only fin whale in China. The ancient lotus seeds were buried from about 821 to 1251, and can still germinate and bloom after being cultivated. The museum also maintains a complete set of Taiwan Province insects and a large number of world insect specimens and rock and mineral specimens from Germany , Japan, North Korea, the Soviet Union and other countries. Among them, the orthoclase crystal family on the Korean Peninsula, the size of its crystal clusters and the beauty of its crystal form are rare at hom e and abroad.

The museum s basic display is divided into 5 parts: marine life, geology and minerals, the origin of life and human appearance, animals and plants. A total of 4,853 specimens are displayed. Among them, the Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea marine life display highlights the local characteristics. Large-scale cetacean specimens are displayed at home, and few are abroad. The museum also often organizes various special exhibitions, such as: Photo Exhibition of Chinese Hairy People, Excellent Health, Excellent Education, Excellent Education , French Natural History Exhibition , World Insect Exhibition , Antarctic Exhibition , South China Sea Exhibition .

The museum participated in the compilation of zoology, flora and other books of provinces and cities and the country. Chinese Mao won the second prize of National Excellent Science and Technology Book in 1983; Snake Island Investigation won the Provincial Major Science and Technology Achievement Award in 1978.

The museum also often conducts academic exchanges with foreign countries. In September 1984, the Museum of Natural History of Kitakyushu, Japan was invited to exhibit Insects of the World at the museum. In August 1986, the museum was invited to exhibit Birds and Beasts of the Northeast in Kitakyushu and Wuhe, Japan.

The New Dalian Nature Museum was built in 1998. It is located in the scenic Black Rock Reef waterfront, adjacent to Xinghai Park, covering an area of ​​15,000 square meters. It has one underground floor and three above-ground floors. The museum is also one of the few museums registered in UNESCO in our country. It is a modern building with Baroque features of a French staircase style, with minarets and wall sculptures. The new hall now has six exhibition halls for dinosaurs, teleost fish, cartilage fish, small sea beasts, large sea beasts , marine invertebrates and seaweed.
