Badaguan Scenic Area [Qingdao, Shandong]

The Badaguan villa area is located in the north of Huiquanjiao Scenic Area, adjacent to Huiquan Bay in the west, and Taiping Bay in the south. Originally, there were 8 roads named after Guanyu after the eight gates, namely Shaoguan Road, Jiayuguan Road, Hanguguan Road, Zhengyangguan Road, Linhuaiguan Road, Ningwuguan Road, Zijingguan Road, Juyongguan Road. These eight roads are criss-crossed to form a scenic area with a radius of several miles, so it is called Badaguan (now increased to ten) . The Badaguan building was first designed and built by German architects in the early 20th century. Later, Russian, British, French, German, American, Danish, Greek, Spanish, Swiss and other architects and Chinese architects successively designed and built them until the 1940s . almost done. More than 300 villa building groups with different architectural styles in more than 20 countries have been formed. The total construction area is 145,368 square meters. You can see the name of the road just by looking at the flowers and trees planted next to the road. This is another feature of the Badaguan. Hundreds of Bitao and yellow forsythia are planted on both sides of Shaoguan Road; begonias are growing in full bloom on Ningwuguan Road; Lagerstroemia indica on Zhengyangguan Road, which many foreign friends call flower street .

In recent years, a new peach forest has been planted in the northeast corner of Badaguan, which has become another good place for people to set foot in spring. In the southwest corner, green cypresses cross the road, and the double green cedars are separated into boxes, which are loved by many couples, so they are also called love corners.

Tonghuashilou is the most famous and representative villa in Badaguan. It is said that it was built by a Russian in 1932. It was named Huashilou because it was built with granite and pebbles. The architectural style of Huashilou is a typical European castle style, which integrates Greek and Roman styles, and also has Gothic architectural characteristics. According to legend, before the liberation, special agent Dai Dai lived here, and some people said that Chiang Kai-shek had also escaped here, etc. After liberation, Huashilou became a premises for Chinese and foreign VIPs and is now open to the public.

Next to the Huahua Stone Building is the Second Beach, which is divided into two parts by the entrance of Ningwuguan Road. There is a pergola in front of the dressing room in the Eastern District, which is the former site of the Political Bureau meeting of the CPC Central Committee. In 1957, the chairman came to Qingdao to preside over a meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee. When swimming in the Second Beach, he found that the pergola was facing the sea, the environment was quiet and very spacious, so he proposed that the meeting be held here, and the staff would surround the pergola with bamboo curtains. A meeting of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee was held here.

No. 5 Laoshan Customs Road is a Japanese-style villa built here during the Japanese occupation of Qingdao for the second time. The exterior wall of the building is decorated with green glazed tiles, which looks extraordinarily unique. Like Huashilou, after liberation, No . 5 Shanhaiguan Road became a hotel for Chinese and foreign guests. In 1957, the comrades of the then General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee stayed here when they participated in the Central Political Bureau meeting in Qingdao.

Along the Shanhaiguan Road, you can walk westward to No.9 Shanhaiguan Road. The guests received here are mostly foreign heads of state and government, so it is known as Qingdao Diaoyutai. No. 9 Shanhaiguan Road is an American-style building. Before liberation, it was the official residence of Admiral Kirk, commander of the US Seventh Fleet. All the interior furniture was made in the United States, and some are still in use today.

Across the street from Qingdao Diaoyutai is the Marshal Building, which is also a Japanese-style building, but it is different from Qingdao Diaoyutai in the Qingdao style with red tiles and yellow walls. Since five of the top ten Marshals of the Republic were here Stayed, so named Marshal House. According to legend, the Cultural Revolution also lived here. In addition, the Princess House, Song Family Garden, Zhu De Villa, Yiju Villa, etc. are also very distinctive buildings.
