President Paul Biya and Emmanuel Macron talks about terrorism in Cameroon on phone

President Paul Biya of Cameroon and French President Emmanuel Macron last Saturday June 30th 2018,  held a telephone conversation on  the global security and the future of the Francophonie in the African Union, whose 31st Summit  started last weekend in Mauritania.

This phone call comes, after Amnesty International's recent report condemned violences from both the Cameroonian and separatist defense forces, in the ongoing war in the two English speaking regions of the country.

In the conversation, France seem to have joint the list of other international communities, calling for cease fire and dialogue to put an end to the ugly ongoing crisis, that started in 2016.

After the phone conversation the French Presidency published the conversation of the two men as seen below:

In view  of his trip to Africa early next week, and his participation in the African Union Summit, the President of the Republic had a telephone coversation this morning(Saturday June 30th) with his Cameroonian counterpart M. Paul Biya.

They condemned the attack perpetrated yesterday(Friday June 29) on a senior military of the G5 Sahel joint forces.

Folowing the visit of the Presidency of the Republic to Nigeria, the President of the Republic and his Camerooonian couterpart Mr. Paul Biya, mostly talked about the situation in the region of the Lake Chad Basin, and the necessity to follow the regional cooperation in the domain for the fight against terrorist actions from the Boko Haram Group.

The two men also spoke about the agenda of the 31st Summit of the African Union and the issue of migration during the conversation. The President of the Republic pledged his support to the actions carried out by the Afrian Union to resolve crisis in Africa.

Finally, they spoke about the future of the International Organisation of La Francophonie .

Dans la perspective de son déplacement en Afrique en début de semaine prochaine et de sa participation au sommet de l’Union africaine, le Président de la République a eu un entretien téléphonique ce matin avec son homologue camerounais, M. Paul Biya.
Ils ont condamné l’attaque perpétrée hier contre un état-major régional de la force conjointe du G5 Sahel.
En vue du déplacement du Président de la République au Nigéria, le Président de la République et son homologue M. Paul Biya ont plus particulièrement évoqué la situation dans la région du bassin du lac Tchad et la nécessité de poursuivre la coopération régionale dans le domaine de la lutte contre les actions terroristes du groupe Boko Haram.
Cet entretien a permis d’évoquer les sujets à l’ordre du jour du sommet de l’Union africaine et l’enjeu des migrations. Le Président de la République a marqué son soutien à l’action menée par l’Union africaine pour la résolution des crises en Afrique.
Ils ont enfin évoqué la question de l’avenir de l’Organisation internationale de la francophonie.
