President Paul Biya orders an audit on the quality of telecommunication services in Cameroon

The  Head of State President Paul Biya, has ordered that an audit be carried out on the quality of telecommunication services in the country.

According to CRTV relating this news, officials of the four telecommunication service providers(MTN, Orange, Nexttel,  and Cametel) in the country, have been notified on this decision, which was announced on Monday May 7, 2018 during a workshop on the quality of electronic communication services.

CRTV reported that this audit is intended to assess and evaluate the plan drawn up by each operator to implement the recommendations resulting from the audit of its network.

The audit will also determine the level of implementation by each operator, with recommendations resulting from certain network elements including the Cdma, 2G, 3G and 4G radio network; circuit domain network; park domain; transmission network and network security.

The audit will also enable the government to assess and consolidate a monitoring plan, that will be used to monitor the operators, if they are implementing the recommendations from the audit.

Cybercom Group which conducted the first audit in 2017, reported that "that there was a continuous deterioration in the quality of network services of all the operators, due to non-compliance of the technical specifications, and the technical laxity of the regulator assisting them".

The consultant made 706 recommendations, with 319 needing immediate implementations.
