One year gone, and killers of late Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala of Bafia are still to be revealed - What happened to the court case filed by the CNEC?

It is one year exactly today May 31st 2018, that the white Prado matriculated CE 9503 V of the late Bishop of Bafia Jeen Marie Benoit Bala was discovered at the Ebebda bride of River Sanaga, signaling his disappearance.

On the passenger's seat  inside the late prelate's car that fateful May 31st, 2017 was his vehicle and personal identification documents, and a suicide note that read "Je suis dans l'eau" - 'I am inside the water'.

Everyone thought the prelate had committed suicide, and so a search team made of military marine, local divers and fishermen plunged into the depths of the river Sanaga, hoping to find him in the belly of the waters dead of alive.

They returned to the shores unsuccessful, when the waters had grown high. The search continued the next day, which was June 1, 2017.

When all hope was lost on the 2nd of June 2017, a fisherman who went to untie his both, found the body of the prelate floating at the lights waters of the banks of River Sanaga at Ntsang Village Monatele, in the Lekie Division of the Center Region.

He raised alarm, and divers came over, collected the lifeless body and took it to the shore of the Ebebda bridge, where it was visited by religious, administrative and judicial authorities.

A team of inter-pool doctors from Germany were brought into the country by the government for a post mortem to be carried out on the body.

The post mortem result made public by the State Counsel General of the Court of Appeal Mfoundi in a Press Release of July 4th, 2017 read that the prelate 'might have probably committed suicide by drowning himself in the water'.

This result was immediately refuted by the Cameroon  National Episcopal Conference, who said loud and clear that their colleague and brother was BRUTALLY ASSASSINATED, because according to them there were traces of violence on his body when it was brought to the shore contrary to the information release by the Sate Counsel.

In a Press Release issued by the National Episcopal Council of Cameroon and signed by its President Samuel Kleda, the Catholic church in Cameroon confirmed that the body of late Bishop Bala had been handed over to them for the funeral which took place in Yaounde and Bafia respectively, on August 2nd and 3rd 2017.

The Press Release further stated that the church was  filling a case against X, killers of Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala, stressing that the case file will be handed to their lawyers, who during the hearing will reveal the truth.

One year has passed, and silence hovers over the death of Bishop Bala, whose grave was equally desecrated by mystical practices of fresh blood that was sprinkled right up to his chair at the Bafia cathedral.

This incident lead to the shut down of the cathedral, whose doors were reopened after some purification rites were done by the church.

RIP His Lordship Jean Marie Benoit Bala.
