Ugandan lecturer suspended, arrested for sexually harassing student

A lecturer in the University of Makarere in Uganda, Kisuze Edward, has been arrested over allegations of sexual harassment by one of his students.
Edward was also suspended from the school on half pay with immediate effect to allow a smooth investigation into allegations that he harassed the student at his office at Senate Building.
His student, Rachael Njeri, had written to the school authorities on Monday, April 16, alleging that Edward sexually harassed her.
Rachael was able to get the photo of the lecturer in action
The institution made the announcement in a letter posted on its Twitter on Tuesday, and later tweeted that the lecturer has also been arrested by the Police.

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor William Bazeyo said Edward had been notified of the allegation and asked to share his own side of the story.
A similar incident occurred at the Accounting department of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where a lecturer, Professor Richard Akindele, was purportedly recorded on phone while seeking sexual indulgence from one of his students.
The university only said it was conducting internal investigations on the matter.
