Former Minister of Mines, Water and Energy - Basile Atangana Kouna

Cameroon's former Minister of  Mines, Water and Energy Basile Atangana Kouna who lost favours in front of President Biya during the March 2nd 2018 Cabinet reshuffle, has been prohibited from leaving the country, following instructions from the Delegate General of National Security Martin Mbarga Nguele on February 7, 2018.

In an internal security radio message to Commissioners of all exit boundaries around Cameroon, the Delegate General instructed that Minister  Basile Atangana Kouna as well as Louis Max Ohandja Ayina former Secretary of State at the Ministry of Transport in charge of roads should not be allowed to leave the country, even though the message did not explain why.

According to sources, Minister Basile Atangana Kouna's passport was seized from him since March 3rd, one day after he was kicked out of government.

The former minister has been on the red page of social media critics, following his involvement in the CAMWATER ownership together with ex-Minister Mebe Ngo'o, who rumours hold that he too is under government's radar.
