Awaghang Leo AMBEAPI, the Southern Cameroonian With Heart Malfunction And A Pacemaker In The Chest who as arrested and detained has been released


Awaghang Leo AMBEAPI, the 28years old Southern Cameroonian suffering from a heart condition with a pacemaker in his chest, who was abducted in a shop at Mile 50 Wum by armed gendarmes on Sunday, February 4, 2018, has been released on bail. 

According to Barrister Agbor Balla breaking the news, Leo will continue with his medical treatment at home beside his family.


Leo was detained incommunicado, he fainted several times in jail, he was handcuffed to a hospital bed, attempts by his parents to provide his medications were unsuccessful and the Wum Gendarmerie Company Commander’s response was, “When it comes to National Security, health doesn’t matter”.

Barrister Agbor Balla wrote that Leo's release on bail is a step in the right direction, urging the authorities to drop the charges against him.
