One Gendarme Stabbed to death in Kumba

Sergeant Olinga Mengue now of blessed memory

A gendarme whose name we got as Sergeant Olinga Mengue was reportedly stabbed to death in Kumba, in the early hours of yesterday Friday February 15, 2018.

A colleague of the late Sergeant Olinga narrated to the press how he was killed: "Sergeant Olinga Mengue left us at the control post in Kumba at about 3 a.m in the morning, saying he was going to check his phone that was on charge." He said.

"Mengue was attacked by assailants, who stabbed him on the back. Despite his critical state, he managed to shoot towards the direction of his attackers. Even though he didn't succeed in shooting any of them, the sound of his gun alerted us at the post." The colleague added.

The colleague said his body was put in the Kumba mortuary yesterday morning.

This is the fourth gendarme killed in the North West and South West Regions since the start of the month of February.

World bodies have been condemning the act of violence in the anglophone regions, but their voices have had no impact, since neither the government nor the anglophone separatists are ready to let go.
