French Ambassador Cautions Their Citizens About Travelling To Southern Cameroons And The Far North Region Of Cameroon

The French Embassy in Cameroon has marked Southern Cameroons and the Far North Region "RED" for its citizens, following the ongoing crisis plaguing Southern Cameroons, and the increase of activities by the Nigerian Islamic Sect Boko Haram in the Far North Region.

In a  Communique issued by French Diplomatic Head to Cameroon Gilles Thibault,  all French citizens travelling to these 'danger zones, should avoid gatherings, and night outings. He further warned that they should avoid travelling on ghost town days especially to Bamenda, Buea, Limbe, and Kumba.

According to ambassador Thibault, French citizens living and working in these danger zones should strictly adhere to security instructions.

The ambassador reminded French citizens of the frequent abduction and suicide bomb attacks in the entire far North Region, also calling on those in the two capital cities of Yaounde and Douala to be extra vigilant, and to always be in possession of their identification papers.

France is sending out this warning few weeks after the US embassy in Cameroon issued the same for its citizens.
