Government's prevaricating emissaries to South Africa last week, say they accomplished what President Biya instructed to do, despite social media rantings on their alleged molestation.
The delegation was headed by Dr. Joseph Dion Ngute, Minister Delegate at the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Commonwealth, and included Pr. Fru Angwafor, Director General of the Gynecology-Obstetric and pediatric hospital in Yaounde, and Frederic Ebongue Makolle from the Prime Minister's office.
According to Minister Dion Ngute, he was acting upon the instruction of President Paul Biya, to explain to South African Officials, the situation in the North West and South West Regions, that started with grievances from the lawyers and teachers unions.
"We can say we largely attained our objective. The South African Officials encouraged government's effort to bring peace, and also said that Cameroon is a haven of peace, and that it was important for us to persist, following our roles played in the sub regions'. Dion Ngute told Cameroon Tribune of Thursday August 10, 2017.
Dion Ngute said the South African officials we satisfied with the explanations given to them by the government delegation.
Concerning the meeting held with Cameroonians in South Africa, the Minister said: 'This meeting kicked off well, as we met many of our fellow countrymen who wanted to know what was happening. Towards the end, people came in and disturbed the said meeting. Nothing is strange to us. Many people amplified this slight incident on social media, but to us, the essential thing was done'.
