    FECAFOOT Arm Twists CAF's Conspiracy To Strip Cameroon Of Its Hosting Rights of the 2019 AFCON Organization. Says Louder That 'Cameroon Is Ready For The 2019 AFCON'.

    Following the recent press outing of CAF's Boss Ahmad Ahmad over the weekend in Burkina Faso, in which he said 'Cameroon is not even ready to host just four teams' out of the 24 in the upcoming 2019 African Cup of Nations, Cameroon has reacted through its football governing body FECAFOOT, bringing CAF's boss to order, reminding him of Cameroon's  PALMARES before, during and after the  2016 African Women Cup of Nations.

    In a Press Release of today Monday, August 7, 2017, FECAFOOT President Tombi A Roko frowned at CAF's foul play to strip Cameroon of its hosting right, and say Cameroon is ready any day, any time to host the competition, despite unlawful last minute adjustments.

    Read FECAFOOT's JUSTIFIED ANGER below:

    FECAFOOT has learned with deep dismay the recent declarations of the President of the Confederation of African Football during a press conference in Burkina Fasso, according to which, "in the present state of things, no site in Cameroon is ready to receive the the African Cup of Nations".

    FECAFOOT  is deeply worried by the fact that these declarations are made, before  the arrival  of the first inspection team of CAF, scheduled to be in Cameroon from August 20th to 28 207. We are therefore questioning the effectiveness of  the report of the inspection team , since you already have the results at your level.

    FECAFOOT is also worried that these declarations from the CAF;s President are not in conformity with reality. Cameroon just organised an undeniable successful African Women Cup of Nations in 2016. There was no single hiccup during this competition in the playing sites of Yaoundé-Mfandena, Buea/Limbe. Do I need to remind you that CAF sent a Congratulatory letter to Cameroon, for  excellent organisation of this AFWCON, the "Jury's Choice", awarded in 2017 in Cannes, during the 2017 Heavent Awards, a ceremony that rewards the  best organizers of events around the world.

    Concerning the 2019 AFCON, FECAFOOT will like to remind you that based on the technical specifications agreed  with CAF, Cameroon launched a vast construction program, and the rehabilitation of its sporting infrastructures, evaluated at hundreds of Billions of Francs CFA. For that, Cameroon has received important financial supports from friendly countries namely:
    • Italy, for the construction of a  Sporting Complex at Olembe, by the contractor PICCINI which includes a stadium with 60.000 places and two training stadiums, various sports facilities and a four-Star Hotel of 60.000 rooms. ;
    • Turkey, for the construction, of a Sports Complex at Japoma by the contractor YENIGUN, which includes a stadium with 50.000 places and two training stadiums, various sports facilities and accommodation facilities of sixty  rooms...;
    • Canada, for the rehabilitation of the Reunification Stadium and an annex stadium, as well as four training grounds in Bafoussam;
    • France, for the rehabilitation of the Mbappe Lele and Bonamoussai Stadiums, by the contractor ALCOR
    • the United Kingdom, for the rehabilitation of the Roumde Adjia stadium in Garoua, as well as the construction of an annex stadium and a four star hotel with seventy rooms.
    • the United States of America, for the rehabilitation of four training stadiums, l’Hôtel La Bénoué and the construction of a four star hotel with seventy rooms by the contractor Prime Potomac
    •  China, for the already constructed  Omnisport Stadiums of Limbe and Bafoussam,  approved by the CAF.

    FECAFOOT can proudly add that in addition to the support of these friendly and partnering countries, the Cameroonian people are bent  to give their full support to the 2019 AFCON Project.

    It is difficult not to believe the rumour that CAF is conspiring to withdraw the 2019 AFCON organisation from Cameroon, and give it to other countries following the declaration of CAF's President.
    • it is particularly disturbing that the recent reforms in the organization of the African cup of nations will apply immediately during the 2019 AFCON. Such a situation questions the technical specifications  previously agreed between CAF and Cameroon  which is  equivalent to a change of game rules during the game. Moreover legally, modifications during a competition is not applicable to the host country immediately after its adoption. An example is the decision of the FIFA's Board, to change the format of the World Cup from 32 to 48 teams. This will not apply to Russia 2018 nor Qatar in 2022.
    • it is also disturbing to note that the date for CAF's first inspection mission was unilaterally changed from September to August 2017 without notice;
    • where has it been said that two years before a competition, an intoxication campaign of misinformation is being carried out to say that Cameroon will not be ready to host the 2019 AFCON, despite efforts put in place, and assurances from the Cameroon government?
    FECAFOOT wishes to reiterate that, after the election of President Ahmad Ahmad, they  assured him of their  full readiness to work constructively with him for the development of African football.
    FECAFOOT continues to hope that, during his term of office, the CAF's President will have the heart to work for the profit of all African countries, and not against some of them.
    Henceforth, FECAFOOT will work with open eyes and vigilance, on the actions and initiatives of this umbrella body of the African football concerning  organization of the 2019 AFCON.

    Notwithstanding the above-mentioned curiosities,
    FECAFOOT  will welcome all of CAF's inspection teams, with a constructive spirit. FECAFOOT with the full support of the Cameroon government and people, strongly reaffirms that 'Cameroon will be ready to organize the 2019 African Cup of Nations'.

    In this regard, FECAFOOT  is willing to make every efforts together with CAF, for the calm organization of this to great and beautiful African Football Festival that will take place in 2019 in Cameroon, Africa in miniature./-
