    Angry Flames Ravage Shops In The Yaounde Central Market

    Fire storms have consumed almost ten shops at the Yaounde Central Market with material damages estimated at FCFA twenty million.

    The fire that broke out at 3. a.m this Tuesday 22nd August 2017 ravished shops around the  Pharmacie du Marche Centrale, and it was thanks to joint efforts from the Fire Fighting Brigade,Gendarmerie and Police together with city dwellers, that the fast growing flames were contained.

    ReportS from the Fire Fighting Brigade  attribute the disaster to poor electrical connections in the shops.



    The Deputy Commander of the 10th Fire Brigade Yaounde, Kadiery Abdel regretted the fact that such disasters are regularly reoccurring, and thinks the root cause is  poor planning and crowdiness in markets and public spaces.

    The victims stood helpless at the scene, watching their live time savings reduced to ashes.

    One of them, David Nyangono expressed gratitude to the Fire fighting brigade that saved part of his shop though he estimated his loss at  3-6 million 
    F CFA.

    Meanwhile, the Governor of the Center Region, Naseri Paul Bea was on the site to console the victims, and evaluate the damages.
