The Catholic Church will today Saturday July 8 2017, be having a Press Conference at the Council's head quarters in Mvolye Yaounde as from 11 a.m.

His Lordship Archbishop Samuel Kleda of the Douala Metropolitan  in his double capacity as President of the Association of Episcopal Conferences of  Region(AECCAR), and President of the National Episcopal Council, will be facing the press, accompanied by Rev. Fr. Mesmin Prosper Massengo, Secretary General of the AECCAR,  to talk about the Assembly's 11th Ordinary session
regrouping Bishops from  the five Central African Regions notably; Chad, the Central African Republic, Congo Brazaville, Gabon and Cameroon to discuss on  'ecumenism and inter-religious dialogue'  and more especially to let the public know the church's decision on the Press Release of the State Prosecutor General at the Yaounde Court of Appeal regarding of the post mortem  findings on the late Bishop of Bafia.

The Catholic Church has remained silence the declarations of the State Prosecutor in a Press Release of July 4 2017, saying a Group of Interpol Doctors who carried out the post mortem examination on the body of late Bishop Jean Marie Benoit Bala  'did not find traces of violence on his body' and that the Prelate might have 'probably drowned to death'.

The next day July 5 2017, the Bishops  met in Yokadouma under the chairmanship of the outgoing Apostolic Noncio Pierro Pippo and Archbishop Samuel Kleda to consecrate and install the new Bishop of that area.

The ceremony was attended by high profile Statesmen, among whom was Ferdinand Ngoh Ngo, Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic, who was the Special representative of the Head of State Paul Biya. The issue about Bishop Bala's post mortem reports which was being awaited, was omitted during the homily.

The National Episcopal Council had cried out loud and clear that the Bishop was assassinated and that the church was under persecution during their last meeting of June 13 2017, calling on government to do their job and bring Bishop Bala's culprit to face the law.

AECCAR will be meeting in Yaounde from July 8 the to July 16 2017.

We shall be bringing you details of the Press Conference as they unfold. Stay tuned.
