Sparrow Hawk: All Hopes Lost For Inoni And Mebara, As The Supreme Court Upholds Their 20 Years Jail Term

The Apex Court of Cameroon on Tuesday 27th June 2017, endorsed the 20 years jail term given to Biya's two best men in past by the Special Criminal Court.

Former Prime Minister of Cameroon Inoni Ephraim and former Secretary General at the Presidency Jean-Marie Atangana Mebara were both sentenced on the 2nd of October 2013, for the embezzlement of public funds worth 1 700 000 000 F CFA (One Billion Seven Hundred Million Francs).

It all started in 2004, when the defunt Cameroon Airlines Corporation was in serious Financial crisis, with majority of its planes grounded by a creditor Ansette. For activities to kick off properly, the company was obliged to pay its debts. Part of the debt was to be paid by the Ministry of Finance, and the rest by the Secretary General at the Presidency. The creditor Ansett however received his money, but in excess, which raised eyebrows.

According to the Cameroon government, it was an embezzlement. The two men have always pleaded not guilty of the charges against them, but looks like there is more than meet the eyes.

Last year, the African Commission of Human Rights requested the liberation of Jean-Marie Atangana Mebara, but nothing was done.

After the Special Criminal Court sentenced them to  20 years of imprisonment each, they  made and appeal to the Highest Court, and that Court just confirmed that the 20 years is just a decision taken by the network, the best time frame enough to get them end their last days behind bars, without coming out alive and to pursue the 'mad dreams' of...........

It's all a clique in the political circle of those who were on G list, eyeing the Highest Magistracy Position of the country.

Well, Eleven more years to go, or a Presidential Amnesty, is the only hope left for the duo, as we wish them courage.
