Total U-17 AFCON Gabon 2017 Cameroon and Guinea Battles Over A One All Tie

Cameroon stop Guinea run in Port Gentil

Guinea and Cameroon on Wednesday played out a pulsating 1-1 draw  at the on going Total  U-17 African Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 with a goal each in either half of a lively encounter in Port Gentil.

Les Syli Cadets' in-form player striker Djibril Fandje Toure scored the opener for Guinea in the 22nd minute which incidentally was his fourth goal in the campaign while Stephane Zobo  scored a 67th minute equaliser to revive Cameroon's hope in the competition despite losing 4-0 to Ghana in their first match.

Cameroon started the encounter well prepared and enjoyed much of the play in the opening quarter of an hour yet they went behind against the run of play after Toure forced the ball away from his marker and on-rushing goalkeeper Boris Juniour Esele before slicing the ball into the net  for the only goal of the first half.

At the restart, Cameroon showed more hunger as they pinned Guinea to their half and delivering  more ball upfront for lone striker, Zobo who troubled his markers. It was in one of those deliveries that Zobo pounced on the ball and volley into the roof of the net beyond bewildered goalkeeper Ibrahima Sylla.

Wednesday's match was the third  drawn result between both teams as the two previous encounters also ended 1-1(1999) and 0-0(2009).

Guinea will now face Ghana at the Stade de l'Amitie on Saturday  in their last Group A match in Libreville while Cameroon and Gabon meet in Port Gentil in the other group's encounter.
