Minister Bibehe Ngale Sets An Unshakable GCE Timetable. Says Come Sun Come Rain, The Exams Must Hold

The Minister of Secondary Education says he will will not rest, until the GCE Examinations for this year is written in the two striking anglophone regions.

In his last minute control tour in the two regions, where he started in the South West Regional capital of Buea, Minister Jean Ernest Ngalle Bibehe says he was impressed with the school attendance rate at GBHS Molyko and GHS Bokwango.

The Principal of Bilingual Grammar School(BGS) Molyko Hannah Mbua Etonde, who has under attack and had severally denied haven intimidated her students and teachers to return to school complained to the Minister that most of her students have been studying off campus, in preparations for the examinations, while others have deliberately refused to show up for classes and didn't even come for the ongoing Mock examinations.

The meeting that took place at the Buea Mountain hotel, was attended by educational authorities of the Region, and the landlord of the Region Bernard Okalia Bilai.

An emotional heated debate on security, animated the meeting, and the landlord of the Region frowned at traditional Rulers, who he said 'use masquerades from their traditional secret societies to intimidate administrators', but cannot use them to ensure the security of their children.

The Minister said government will do everything to ensure that students writing the exams as well as the writing centers stay under tight security.

The meeting ended with the decision that GCE Practicals will commence on Monday May 15 2017, while the written part is slated from June 5, 2017.

The names of the centers have not yet been disclosed to the public for security reasons, and the Minister took off to the North West Region, with the same agenda in his brief case.
