President Biya Appoints A South Westerner as Governor Of The Center Region - A Blunder Or An Appeasement

Paul Naseri Bea - New Governor of the Center Region

President Paul Biya yesterday March 13th 2017, signed a decree, appointing Paul Naseri Bea, former Divisional Officer for Wouri II, to the vacant position of the Governor of the Center Region.

Mr. Paul Naseri Bea is an anglophone from the Ndian Division in the South West Region of Cameroon, and has been serving the government for close to three decades.

President Biya's decision was welcomed with mixed feelings, because it comes at a moment when anglophones want a separation from the francophones, and when schools in the North West and South West Regions have remained grounded for more than four months.

Some critics say this is another big blunder from the 84 years old dictator as he is 'selling after the market', while others think he is trying to appease aching hearts of the anglophone people.

The position of the Governor of the Center Region has been vacant, following the death of former Governor, Joseph Otto Wilson last year.
