While information had gone out that  the ad hoc committee created by Prime Minister Philemon Yang to address the anglophone teachers grievances was to resume on Wednesday Jan. 18th 2017, Prof. Paul Ghogomu, Chairman of the said committee says he is washing his hands off the dialogue, as he calls it quit and submits his report to his boss the PM.

In a three paged Press Release written in Cameroon's lone official language of Jan. 16 2017, Paul Ghogomu said of the 20 points tabled by the teachers union leaders, two were not to be on list because according to him, it was not at his level to decide. These two points were:
  • The unconditional release of all the youths arrested during the Dec. 8 and 9 2016 in Bamenda and Kumba
  • And the request for a Two-State Federation.
Prof Ghogomu said  recommendations have been sent to the Prime Minister, for onward transmission to President Biya, a clear indication that he and his Yaounde team concluded without the input of the trade unionists.

He further went on to ask the teachers to call off the strike, and urged parents to send their kids back to school.

This is another sign of bad faith from the government who thinks they can just impose on people and have their way.

Well not this time around.
