Cameroon - AFCON 2016 - 17 tons of bulletproof glasses to be installed at the Presidential stand of the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium Yaounde ahead of the AFWCON

Amadou Ahidjo's Stadium Yaounde

Reports say high security measures are being put in place to ensure the Presidential Stand of the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde is well protected and secured ahead of  the 12th edition of the biannual international football tournament of the Africa Women Cup of Nationsorganised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the women’s national teams of Africa to be hosted by Cameroon.

According to the report, this high security is a 17 ton bulletproof glass  which will cover 17 walls of 3.70m x 140m of the stadium. These bulletproof glasses which came in  an express delivery airfreight by a company under Bollore will be installed tomorrow Nov 12, 2016.

The cost of these glasses evaluated at more than 20 000 000 F CFA(Twenty Million Francs) goes into the budget of the renovation cost of the more than 30 years old stadium.

The AFWCON is said to kick off on November 19, and H.E President Paul Biya will likely preside over the opening ceremony, owing to the fact that the competition is taking place in his own territory of power. Security measures are also being put in place to ensure the safety of our guests.
