Report says Oben Maxwell Eyong Southern Cameroon's National Council Coordinator for the Center Region is gradually going blind in jail.

Oben who was arrested on the eve of President Biya's visit to Buea for the celebration of the Reunification has been in detention for 36 months without proper trial, and is said to have developed eye problems to the extent that he is using but contact lenses to identify people and objects before him.

"Oben is looking very frail, haggard, weak and already showing signs of a man who has given up hopes of surviving the harsh detention conditions", Leke Theodore 2nd Vice National Chairman of SCNC said in desperation. 

Leke added that Oben is detained under very deplorable conditions, and that only him, one Mathias Arrey Bissong and another SCNC activist have been standing by Oben since this ordeal befell him.

He precised that Oben's case has been tabled with Human Rights Groups and other International Organizations, and also accused SCNC's Management for neglecting and abandoning Oben to himself.

Oben who is accused of insurrection was arrested with another guy at the Mile 17 Motor Park,  has been denied bail, while is accomplice's  where about is still unknown.
