Former Secretary General at the Presidency and former right hand man of Cameroon's Head of State Marafa Hamidou Yaya gains 5 years jail term reduction from the Apex court.
Previously sentenced to 25 years imprisonment in 2012 for corruption and embezzlement of of 25 million Euros, destined for the purchase of a presidential plane, Marafa contested the decision, and sort to prove his innocence at the Supreme court.
After three years of trial, during which Marafa kept shouting out about the skeletons in President Biya's closest in series of open letters written to the Mr. Biya from Kondengui.
The hearing for yesterday Wednesday 18th May was to begin at 10 a.m, but was pushed to 4 p.m, where it prolonged till late in the night. The session was briefly suspended, and resumed minutes later, when the judges gave their verdict.
Marafa's prison term was reduced from 25 to 20 years, and his lawyers said they were going to use all the means at their disposal to get justice for him.
