Cameroon - Water Scarcity in Douala - Manidem advises the population to stage a protest march

For weeks and days now, the population of the economic city of Douala have been suffering from scarcity of  portable water distributed by Cameroon Water Utilities Corporation(CAMWATER). Pit wells, local streams and springs have been the only rescuing sources, exposing the population to water borne diseases.

The only people to have addressed this situation is the  Manidem(Mouvment African pour la Nouvelle Independence) opposition party, through Valentin Dogmo Fils, Vice President  who has called on the population of Douala to stop suffering in silence and take to the streets, instead of taking the risk of using water from inhygienic sources, that can create more havoc tomorrow.

Not up to a month ago the General Manager Jean William Sollo  was sacked in a Board of Director meeting for gros mismanagement and incompetency. He was replaced by Roger Ondoa Akoa, who in the depth of this water crisis has disregarded the cries of the population. No word has been released  from CAMWATER as to  the cause of this  scarcity.
